BHEL adds 1,625 MW of power generating capacity to the National Grid

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has achieved a new landmark in capacity addition with four of its projects viz. 525 MW Unit-2 of Maithon Power, 500 MW Unit-2 of KPCL Bellary, 500 MW Unit-2 of DVC Durgapur and 100 MW Unit-4 of THDC Koteshwar (Hydro) getting synchronized and achieving full load in the last 24 hours. Following, the total power project capacity commissioned by the company in the current year till March 23, 2012 stands at 7,900 MW.

The company has fully established state-of-the-art technology for manufacture of thermal sets up to 600 MW rating in the sub-critical range and has the capability to manufacture sets up to 1,000 MW rating. The company has also equipped itself to produce 660 MW / 700 MW / 800 MW thermal sets with supercritical parameters, and is shoring up its capability for higher rating Hydro sets and advanced class Gas Turbines to cater to upcoming market requirements.

BHEL has been committed to the nation’s power development programme and has reaffirmed its commitment to the Indian Power Sector by equipping itself by way of contemporary technology, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and skilled technical manpower. The company has established the capability to deliver 15,000 MW per annum and further augmentation to 20,000 MW per annum is underway.
