UCO Bank aims two-fold growth in total business by FY16

UCO Bank is aiming a two-fold growth in total business to Rs 6 lakh crore by FY16 through customer acquisition and network expansion. In this regard, the bank is also looking to raise the number of its branches to 4,000 by March 2016 from 2,239 at present and its automated teller machine (ATM) network to 5,000 from the current 681. The bank is also targeting an increase in the number of account holders to 4.8 crore from 1.40 crore at present over the next five years.

At present, on the overseas front, the bank has two branches each in Hong Kong and Singapore and has a representative office in both Malaysia and mainland China.

Earlier, the bank had set an ambitious target of achieving 20% growth in its overall business in the current fiscal. Also, the bank is aiming to reduce its non-performing assets (NPA) level to less than 3% and has already taken a number of initiatives in this regard.

The bank had reported a drop of 40.52% in its net profit of Rs 225.90 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 379.80 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. For the year ended March 31, 2011, the bank’s net profit decreased by 10.44% to Rs 906.54 crore as compared to Rs 1012.18 crore for the year ended March 31, 2010.
