09 Apr 2012 Evaluate

The Direct Taxes Regional Training Institute (DTRTI) is mulling to purchase HMT’s 20 acres land for establishing global taxation training centre in Bangalore. This land would be adjacent to DTRTI’s new campus in the city.

Buoyed by the numerous requests from countries such as South Africa, Brazil, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for training their staff in India on global taxation, DTRTI is now working on a plan to set up a centre. DTRTI currently caters to the direct taxation related training needs of other Government departments, banks and corporate’s.

DTRTI complex at Bangalore has been built on three acres at a cost of about Rs 30 crore. The facility has 1.25-lakh square feet of built-up area and can provide residential facility for 110 trainees.

HMT was conceived by the Government of India with the objective of producing a limited range of machine tools, required for building an industrial edifice for the country, as a Machine Tool manufacturing company.
