Symphony spurts on mulling overseas buyouts

Symphony is currently trading at Rs 257.90, up by 7.10 points or 2.83% from its previous closing of Rs 250.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 257.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs 257.90 and Rs 253.10 respectively. So far 225 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 1250.00 on 15-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 190.00 on 08-Aug-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 269.30 and Rs 248.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 885.31 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 75.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 0.49% and 24.51% respectively.

Symphony, the air cooler manufacturer is planning buyouts in the US, Europe and West Asia that could open market access for distribution of its product range.

In 2011, the company sold 4 lakh units in India and 1.70 lakh units in rest of the world, leveraging from the acquisition of North America-based air cooler company Impco in 2008. Impco had its manufacturing facility in Mexico. While, the company’s out of India export volumes have risen from 4,667 units in 2003-04 to 1,27,159 coolers in 2010-11. It has presence in 60 countries and sells its products through large format stores like Walmart, Sears, Famsa, Cotsco, Home Depot.

Meanwhile, the company has set an ambitious target to increase its distributors’ network from existing 500 to 800 and retail outlets from the current 10,200 to 20,000 over the next two years, in the country.

Symphony is a publicly traded company established in 1988 in India with a manufacturing base in North America, offering products in over 60 countries.
