Goodricke Group is planning to mark its presence in dairy segment whereby the company is looking to foray into dairy business and will soon seek the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) approval for the same. At present, the company is having licences only to grow tea and tea-related business and for diversifying in other business it will have to take permission from RBI. The tea major is expecting to receive the RBI nod by end of 2012.

In West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district, the company is currently carrying out research and development (R&D) on a diary project and is likely to seek permission from the apex bank after June this year for the commercial venture.

The commercial dairy venture would come up in Lakhipara, near the company's R&D project. The commercial production of milk would be 10,000 litres per day when the project would be in its full scale of operation.

Goodricke Group grows, cultivates, manufactures, treats, blends, processes, buys, sells and deals in tea in various forms.
