Andhra Bank gains on getting CASA deposits worth Rs 8,000 crore in 8 days

Andhra Bank is currently trading at Rs. 54.50, up by 0.40 points or 0.74% from its previous closing of Rs. 54.10 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 56.45 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 56.45 and Rs. 53.50 respectively. So far 71929 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 69.80 on 02-Dec-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 41.75 on 12-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 58.65 and Rs. 53.30 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 3719.15 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 61.26%, while institutions and non-institutions held 22.88% and 15.86% respectively.

Andhra Bank has received deposits worth Rs 8,000 crore in current and savings accounts (CASA) after the Centre demonitised the existing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes on November 8, 2016. Compared with the 6.7% year-on-year growth in the low-cost deposits in the second quarter, the bank was able to get Rs 8,000 crore in just eight days time, almost Rs 1,000 core per day.

Andhra Bank, which has reported a total business Rs 3.19 lakh crore in the second quarter, has almost half of its 3,000 branches located in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It has recently figured in the RBI list of top 10 banks that have received highest deposits post demonetization.
