Axis Bank jumps on plans to sell 25% stake in Axis AMC to Schroders

Axis Bank is currently trading at Rs. 1124.30, up by 21.05 points or 1.91% from its previous closing of Rs. 1103.25 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1127.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1135.00 and Rs. 1120.00 respectively. So far 14,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1367.10 on 01-Aug-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 784.50 on 02-Jan-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1188.50 and Rs. 1075.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 46,456.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 37.38% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 46.34% and 7.74% respectively.

Axis Bank, India's third largest private sector bank, has entered an agreement to sell 25% of the share capital of its wholly owned subsidiary, Axis Asset Management Company (Axis AMC) to Schroder Singapore Holdings, a wholly owned subsidiary of Schroders. This transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed during 2012.

The above transaction provides Axis AMC access to Schroders’ global distribution network and to advise overseas funds invested in Indian securities.

Schroders is a global asset management company with £187.3 billion under management as at December 31, 2011.
