After a recent decrease in excise duty on chassis, Hinduja Group flagship firm Ashok Leyland has slashed its commercial vehicles prices by 1%. Last week, the government cut excise duty on commercial vehicle chassis to 14%.
Ashok Leyland, India’s second-largest truck and bus manufacturer raised its prices by 5% after the excise duty was raised by that amount in the federal budget in March.
Ashok Leyland reported 56.70% increase in sales in April, backed by sales of its latest small commercial vehicle 'DOST'. The city-based company's total sales stood at 8,686 units in April 2012 as against 5,543 units in the same month last year.
