Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of Hinduja Group and Nissan Motor Company rolled out the first small commercial vehicle 'Dost' from their Hosur manufacturing facility on July 22, 2011. Hinduja Automotive Executive Vice Chairman V Sumantran and Nissan Motor Company Executive Vice President Andy Palmer flagged off from the first product from their line at Hosur facility.
The first commercial launch of the vehicle is expected within a month. 'Dost' will be offered in three versions with top-end version featuring air-conditioning power steering and fabric seats. The customer will also have a three color options that are white, beige and blue.
The company‘s net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 declined by 29.67% at Rs 86.25 crore as compared to Rs 122.64 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010. Its total income has increased by 6.21% to Rs 2499.62 crore for the quarter from Rs 2353.33 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
