ITC gains on the buzz of hiking cigarette prices of ‘Kings’ brand by 20%

ITC scrip is currently trading at Rs. 282.30, up by 0.90 points or 0.32% from its previous closing of Rs. 281.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 281.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 284.50 and Rs. 280.00 respectively. So far 533847 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 353.20 on 03-Jul-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 222.05 on 26-Dec-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 291.25 and Rs. 280.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 342064.04 crore.

The Institutions and Non-Institutions held 55.95% and 44.05% stake respectively in the company. 

ITC has reportedly increased prices of select cigarette Kings brand by 20% to Rs 360 per 20 cigarette pack. On the other hand, the company is also planning to enter into the healthcare sector by way of setting up a multi-speciality hospital in the country.

Earlier, the company had hiked cigarette prices of its three brands effect from July 18, following GST Council hiked cess to pre-GST level. The company had increased Gold Flake Kings and Classic Rich prices to Rs 300 per 20 pack each, while Navy Cut Filter price increased to Rs 188 per 20 pack.

ITC has business a interests in cigarettes, hotels, paperboards and specialty papers, packaging, agri-business, packaged foods and confectionery, information technology, branded apparel, personal care, stationery, safety matches and other FMCG products.
