BHEL adds 6 million units of electricity to Uttar Pradesh state

State-owned heavy equipment maker, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has added 6 million units of electricity every day to the grid of the power deficit Uttar Pradesh state with the successful commissioning of 250MW unit at Harduaganj Thermal Power Station (TPS). The company had commissioned the first unit in September, 2011 and with the commissioning of the second unit the project has now been completed.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) reposing its confidence in BHEL, awarded order for setting up 2 units of 250 MW each at Harduaganj TPS. The company’s scope of work in the Harduaganj contract envisaged manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the main plant package along with associated auxiliaries and civil works for the main plant package for this power project.

Besides, the equipment for the project has been supplied by the company’s Haridwar, Trichy, Ranipet, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Bhopal and Jhansi plants, while BHEL’s Power Sector - Northern Region is undertaking erection and commissioning of the equipment.

With the commissioning of Harduaganj TPS in Uttar Pradesh, the company has commissioned a cumulative capacity of 1,000 MW thermal generating units. The other units being a 500 MW at Rihand STPS and a 250 MW at Parichha TPS. Besides, for UPRVUNL, the company is also presently executing contracts for another 250 MW unit at Parichha and two units of 500 MW each at Anpara TPS.
