BHEL commissions 500 MW Unit at Vindhyachal super thermal power project

State-owned heavy equipment maker, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has commissioned 500 MW Unit at Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-IV, in Madhya Pradesh. With this, 12 million units of electricity will be added to the grid every day. 

During the past three months, this is the fifth 500 MW unit that the company has commissioned for NTPC while, Vallur-1, Simhadri-4, Mauda-1 and Rihand-5 remained the others.

Following the commissioning, the company has added a total of 2,000 MW to the grid in the current financial year (2012-13) within a span of just 74 days. This includes three NTPC units of 500 MW each and two units of 250 MW for Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. (UPRVUNL) at Harduaganj and Parichha power projects.

Recently, the company added 6 million units of electricity every day to the grid of the power deficit Uttar Pradesh state with the successful commissioning of 250MW unit at Harduaganj Thermal Power Station (TPS).
