MMTC surges on plan to import 2K tonnes of onion to check prices

MMTC is currently trading at Rs. 79.75, up by 0.85 points or 1.08% from its previous closing of Rs. 78.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 79.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 80.25 and Rs. 78.65 respectively. So far 140985 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 101.60 on 07-Nov-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 41.50 on 23-Nov-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 84.35 and Rs. 73.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 7955.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 89.93%, while institutions and non-institutions held 5.95% and 4.12% respectively.

MMTC will import 2,000 tonnes of onion, while Nafed and SFAC will procure 12,000 tonnes directly from farmers in order to boost supplies and check prices. The company will soon float tenders to import 2,000 tonnes in two tranches.

MMTC is major global player in the minerals trade and is the single largest exporter of minerals from India.
