Canara Bank slips on reporting fraudulent transactions

Canara Bank is currently trading at Rs. 295.30, down by 4.00 points or 1.34% from its previous closing of Rs. 299.30 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 293.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 299.50 and Rs. 291.45 respectively. So far 160210 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 463.40 on 26-Oct-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 280.50 on 22-Mar-2017.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 316.30 and Rs. 285.65 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 17617.07 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 66.30%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 27.58% and 6.13% respectively.

Canara Bank has filed a complaint with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on fraudulent transactions worth Rs 515 crore against Kolkata based RP Infosystems and its directors.

Under the consortium arrangement of 17 banks, Canara Bank financed a Working Capital limit of Rs 40 crore (4.69%). Canara Bank is not the leader of the consortium. The leader bank had already filed a case with CBI in May 2015. The account had already been treated as fraud by our Bank during October 2015 and reported to Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Canara Bank is an Indian state-owned bank headquartered in Bangalore, in Karnataka. It was established at Mangalore in 1906, making it one of the oldest banks in the country.
