Godfrey Phillips India surges on turning black in Q1

Godfrey Phillips India is currently trading at Rs. 855.55, up by 23.15 points or 2.78% from its previous closing of Rs. 832.40 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 851.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 884.00 and Rs. 846.50 respectively. So far 39405 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1134.00 on 17-Aug-2017 and a 52 week low of Rs. 671.00 on 19-Jul-2018.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 884.00 and Rs. 800.80 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 4488.64 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 72.19%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 13.51% and 14.31% respectively.

Godfrey Phillips India has reported a net profit of Rs 56.74 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2018 under review as compared to net loss of Rs 3.14 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the company decreased by 42.18% at Rs 608.68 crore for Q1FY19 as compared Rs 1,052.76 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

Godfrey Phillips India's core business is manufacturing of cigarette.The company has diversified into others businesses such as confectionary, tea, cosmetics and retailing.Under the cigarette division the company has created brands like Four Square, Red and White, Jaisalmer, Cavanders and Tipper.
