Ashok Leyland declines on reporting 20% fall in December sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 100.90, down by 1.65 points or 1.61% from its previous closing of Rs. 102.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 102.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 102.50 and Rs. 100.25 respectively. So far 684589 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 167.50 on 08-May-2018 and a 52 week low of Rs. 97.70 on 10-Dec-2018.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 105.00 and Rs. 100.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 29648.83 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 51.12%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 32.84% and 16.04% respectively.

Ashok Leyland has reported a fall of 20% in December 2018 sales to 15,493 units, as against 19,251 units sold in the same month of last year. The company reported a fall of 29% in its medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) products segment to 11,295 units in December 2018, as compared to 15,948 units sold in December 2017.

The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment of the company registered sales of 4,198 units in December 2018, a jump of 27%, as compared to 3,303 units sold in December 2017.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
