Govt of Kerala agrees to take over BHEL’s 51% stake in BHEL-EML

Government of Kerala has agreed to take over Bharat Heavy Electricals’ (BHEL) 51% stake in BHEL-EML. Thereafter, as per the laid down procedure in General Financial Rules and the extant guidelines, transfer of assets is being processed.

Union Cabinet, had on November 30, 2016, accorded ‘in principle’ approval for the transfer of Palakkad Unit of Instrumentation to the Government of Kerala. A tripartite memorandum of understanding has been signed by Government of India, Government of Kerala and Instrumentation defining the modalities of transfer of Palakkad Unit to the Government of Kerala.

BHEL is India’s largest engineering and manufacturing company of its kind. It is a power plant equipment manufacturer and operates as an engineering and manufacturing company.
