In a bid to assemble and test space grade solar panels using high efficiency solar cells, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), in alliance with country’s space research nodal body Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), has set up 10,000 class clean room facility at its Electronics Systems Division.

The company has also provided two sets of Li-ion batteries, each consisting of 40 Li-ion cells with a power storage capacity of 160 Ampere-Hours for GSAT-10. Both the space solar panels and batteries were assembled and tested at the BHEL facility by highly skilled manpower to strict space quality standards.

Earlier this year, space grade solar panels and Lithium-ion batteries assembled, tested and supplied by the electronics division of city-based BHEL to the ISRO were successfully deployed recently on GSAT-10 Satellite.
