Wipro rises on divesting ‘Sunflower’ brand Vanaspati to Cargill

Wipro is currently trading at Rs. 384.00, up by 2.15 points or 0.56% from its previous closing of Rs. 381.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 383.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 385.50 and Rs. 383.30 respectively. So far 5,341 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 452.50 on 17-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 325.60 on 30-Jul-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 392.00 and Rs. 375.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 94,553.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 78.31% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 10.04% and 9.93% respectively.

Wipro and Cargill have signed an agreement wherein Cargill will acquire Wipro’s Vanaspati brand ‘Sunflower’. The scope of the acquisition is limited to the product brand only. The Sunflower Vanaspati business was about 1% of total Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting revenue. Acquiring Sunflower Vanaspati underscores Cargill’s long-term commitment to growing its consumer food business in India.

Wipro has identified its core market segments to be Personal Care, Skin Care, Wellness and Lighting and in line with its strategy the company divested the Sunflower Vanaspati business.

Wipro provides comprehensive IT solutions and services, including systems integration, Information Systems outsourcing, IT enabled services, package implementation etc. It also has a strong presence in niche market segments of Infrastructure Engineering and Consumer Products & Lighting.
