Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, has successfully launched 'Dost' in Andhra Pradesh market. The company is also planning to launch a passenger van on the platform of its light commercial vehicle Dost which will have a seating capacity of up to eight persons. The company has been studying the market for that and will come out as early as possible. However, any timeframe was not mentioned.
The company will launch ‘Dost’ in Andhra Pradesh through 25 dealership points and will expand it to 60 by the end of this fiscal and each dealership is expected to have three sales points under them. However, the company doesn’t have plans to export the vehicle despite of getting inquiries from three overseas markets.
Dost, a 1.25 ton carrier, is built at Ashok Leyland's manufacturing facility in Hosur, and will compete with the likes of Tata Ace and Mahindra Genio and Maxximo. Recently, the company had launched 'Dost' in Bangalore market.
