Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has bagged a contract for the electro-mechanical equipment package for a 720 Mw (4x170 Mw) Hydroelectric project in Bhutan. As per the contract, state run company will engage in manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the electro-mechanical equipment for the 720 Mw Mangdechhu Hydroelectric project.
The project is being established under a bilateral agreement between the Government of India, and the Royal Government of Bhutan. The value of the contract is Rs 594 crore plus Balance of Plant on cost plus basis, with which, the total contract value will be in the range of Rs 730-750 crore.
