Rural Electrification Corporation shines on reporting 33% rise in Q3 net profit

Rural Electrification Corporation is currently trading at Rs. 250.45, up by 2.50 points or 1.01% from its previous closing of Rs. 247.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 249.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 252.45 and Rs. 243.65 respectively. So far 2, 47,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 267.50 on 04-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 142.00 on 07-Jun-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 249.80 and Rs. 235.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 24,730 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 66.80% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 27.29% and 5.92% respectively.

Rural Electrification Corporation has reported results for third quarter ended December 31, 2012.

The company has registered a rise of 33.41% in its net profit at Rs 1026.65 crore in Q3FY13 as compared to Rs 769.51 crore in the corresponding quarter previous year. The total income of the company has increased by 31.60% to Rs 3552.23 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 2699.12 crore in the same quarter last year.

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
