ITC’s business unit to increase distribution in small towns, villages: Report

10 Apr 2013 Evaluate

ITC’s fastest growing business - ITC Food is reportedly expanding its distribution in small towns and villages. With this initiative the entity, which makes Sunfeast biscuits and Bingo chips, aims to increase distribution in rural areas and new product launches in biscuits and snacks, in order to increase sales by 28-30% this year.

At present, ITC Foods gets about 30-35% of its business from the villages and it aims to increase the number to 35-40% in two years, as the opportunity in rural areas is immense and consumers there are premiumizing. For distribution clout, ITC Foods is also planning to tap its parent company’s e-Choupal network, which involves working directly with farmers on obtaining materials and delivering products.
