Ashok Leyland gains despite reporting 14% fall in April sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs 22.90, up by 0.10 points or 0.44% from its previous closing of Rs 22.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 22.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs 23.15 and Rs 22.85 respectively. So far 139550 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Re 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 32.90 on 02-May-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs 20.25 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 23.20 and Rs 22.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 6092.95 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 30.02% and 17.95% respectively.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship in India, has reported a drop of 14% in April sales at 7,487 vehicles as against 8,686 vehicles in same month previous year. In April 2013, the sales of its small commercial vehicle 'DOST' witnessed over 1% marginal rise to 2,236 units from 2,218 units sold in the same month of last year. In April 2013, the sales of its Commercial vehicle – excl small commercial vehicle ‘DOST’ witnessed over 19% fall to 5,251 units from 6,468 units sold in the same month of last year.
