Ashok Leyland soars as its UK arm inks strategic partnership pact with Dawsonrentals

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 23.35, up by 0.85 points or 3.78% from its previous closing of Rs. 22.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 22.55 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 23.35 and Rs. 22.55 respectively. So far 434455 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 29.00 on 13-Jun-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 20.25 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 23.35 and Rs. 21.90 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 6146.16 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 30.02% and 17.95% respectively.

Ashok Leyland’s UK arm -- Optare -- has entered into strategic partnership agreement with Dawsonrentals, one of the leading asset rental business companies in Europe.

With this partnership pact, Optare will get an order for 50 new buses from Dawsonrentals while Dawsonrental will get access to Ashok Leyland’s (ALL’s) international sales force to facilitate disposal of its used vehicles in right-hand-drive markets

Optare is one of the key acquisitions made by Ashok Leyland to penetrate into European markets. In 2010, Ashok Leyland acquired 26% stake for around Rs 28 crore and in 2011 further it increased its stake in Opatre.
