MMTC cancels tender to export 100,000 tones of wheat: Report

22 May 2013 Evaluate

MMTC has reportedly cancelled a tender to export 100,000 tonnes of wheat from government warehouses, as the state-run company received only one bid. In that bid, Global trader Glencore quoted $268 per tonne, lower than the government-set floor price of $300 a tonne.  Earlier this month, the company has floated the tender, offering wheat from government warehouses in the country's east coast.

MMTC is major global player in the minerals trade and is the single largest exporter of minerals from India. With its comprehensive infrastructural expertise to handle minerals, the company provides full logistic support from procurement, quality control to guaranteed timely deliveries of minerals from different ports, through a wide network of regional and port offices in India, as well as international subsidiary.
