Ashok Leyland shines on securing order for 2,610 buses

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs. 18.70, up by 0.20 points or 1.08% from its previous closing of Rs. 18.50 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 19.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 19.20 and Rs. 18.35 respectively. So far 2, 97,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 28.70 on 03-Dec-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 18.35 on 05-Jul-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 20.75 and Rs. 18.35 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 4,975 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 30.02% and 17.95% respectively.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company has bagged an order for 2,610 buses from the Institute of Road Transport, Tamilnadu, the nodal organization that produces buses for all transport corporations in the state.

Recently, the company reported a drop of 31.30% in June sales at 6,967 vehicles, as against 10,146 vehicles sold in same month year ago. In June 2013, the sales of its small commercial vehicle 'DOST' witnessed a drop of 17.30% to 2,253 units from 2,725 units sold in the same month of last year.
