Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, has reported a drop of 32% in September sales at 7,232 vehicles, as against 10,620 vehicles sold in same month year ago. In September 2013, the sales of its small commercial vehicle 'DOST' witnessed a drop of 17% to 2,517 units from 3,027 units sold in the same month of last year. The sales of its overall Commercial vehicle - excluding small commercial vehicle ‘DOST’ witnessed over 38% fall to 4,715 units from 7,593 units sold in the same month of last year.
For April 2013 to September 2013, the company has reported 22% drop in sales which stood at 44,841 units compared to 57,324 units posted at April 2012 to September 2012 period. The sales of its small commercial vehicle 'DOST' witnessed drop of over 12% to 14,021 units compared to 15,913 units sold in the same period.
Besides, the sales of its Commercial vehicle -- excl small commercial vehicle ‘DOST’ witnessed over 26% fall and stood at 30,820 units compared to 41,411 units sold in the same period of last year.
Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
