Ashok Leyland registers 14% fall in December sales

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, has reported a drop of 14% in December sales at 6,275 vehicles, as against 7,294 sold in same month year ago. In December 2013, the sales of its Large Commercial Vehicle (LCV) products 'DOST & STILE' witnessed a rise of 16% to 2,385 units from 2,064 units sold in the same month of last year. The sales of its overall Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) witnessed over 26% fall to 3,890 units from 5,230 units sold in the same month of last year.

For April 2013 to December 2013, the company has reported 21% drop in sales which stood at 63,294 units compared to 79,985 units posted at April 2012 to December 2012 period. The sales of its LCV products witnessed drop of over 9% to 21,776 units compared to 23,893 units sold in the same period.

Besides, the sales of its M&HCV products witnessed over 26% fall and stood at 41,518 units compared to 56,092 units sold in the same period of last year.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
