Ashok Leyland soars on reporting 53.36% jump in November sales

Ashok Leyland is currently trading at Rs 25.85, up by 0.80 points or 3.19% from its previous closing of Rs 25.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 25.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs 25.95 and Rs 25.30 respectively. So far 438091 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 37.88 on 03-Dec-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 22.50 on 19-May-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 25.95 and Rs 24.40 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 6664.99 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 38.61% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 31.58% and 16.38% respectively.  

Hinduja Group’s flagship company Ashok Leyland has reported 53.36 percent jump in commercial vehicle sales at 7,878 units in November. The company had sold 5,137 units in the same month of 2010.

The company’s domestic sales were 6,477 units in November, as against 3,885 units in the same month of the previous year, up 66.72 percent.The exports increased 11.90 per cent to 1,401 units last month from 1,252 units in the year-ago period.

The company’s net profit for the quarter under review declined 7.77% at Rs 154.08 crore as compared to Rs 167.06 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010. Its total income increased by 14.14% to Rs 3104.90 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 2720.19 crore for the similar quarter of the previous year.
