Ashok Leyland registers 26% fall in January sales

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, has reported a drop of 26% in January sales at 7,847 vehicles, as against 10,561 sold in same month year ago. In January 2014, the sales of its Large Commercial Vehicle (LCV) products witnessed a fall of 37% to 2,317 units from 3,698 units sold in the same month of last year. The sales of its overall Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) witnessed 19% fall to 5,530 units from 6,863 units sold in the same month of last year.

For April 2013 to January 2014, the company has reported 21% drop in sales which stood at 71,141 units compared to 90,546 units posted at April 2012 to January 2013 period. The sales of its LCV products witnessed drop of 13% to 24,093 units compared to 27,591 units sold in the same period.

Besides, the sales of its M&HCV products witnessed 25% fall and stood at 47,048 units compared to 62,955 units sold in the same period of last year.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
