Ashok Leyland registers 27% fall in March sales

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, has reported a drop of 27% in March sales at 10,286 vehicles, as against 14,019 sold in same month year ago. In March 2014, the sales of its Large Commercial Vehicle (LCV) products witnessed a fall of 41% to 2,563 units from 4,325 units sold in the same month of last year. The sales of its overall Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) witnessed 20% fall to 7,723 units from 9,694 units sold in the same month of last year.

For April 2013 to March 2014, the company has reported 22% drop in sales which stood at 89,342 units compared to 114,611 units posted at April 2012 to March 2013 period. The sales of its LCV products witnessed drop of 17% to 28,995 units compared to 34,917 units sold in the same period.

Besides, the sales of its M&HCV products witnessed 24% fall and stood at 60,347 units compared to 79,694 units sold in the same period of last year.

Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group flagship company in India, is engaged in the manufacturing of commercial vehicles and related components. The company’s products include buses, trucks, engines, defense and special vehicles.
