About Smiths & Founders (India) Ltd

Shimoga Technologies Limited, established in 1982, is a Listed Public Limited Company.  The shares of the company are listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange.  The registered office of the company is located at Bangalore.  The company is having two manufacturing units. Unit-I at Shimoga and unit-II at Tiptur. Unit-I  is a well, equipped forging Unit while the  Unit-II   is an expansion project for enhancing its capacity.

The company is engaged in manufacturing small, precision and intricate steel forgings.The quality system procedures of the company confirms to ISO -9002 standards.

The company has exposure to automobile, agriculture, mining, power transmission and general engineering industries.the company has plans to expand its exposure to other industries such as railways, textile, chemical, cement and steel both on original equipment manufacturers end as well as replacement market end.

The company has been exporting its products and the quality system procedures of the company confirms to international standards.

The company has, well established customer  clientele. Presently market leaders like, Telco, Leyland, Widia, Rane-Madras, etc are mainly consuming its products.The current market trend is to buy fully finished products so as to directly use them in the assembly lines.Keeping in view the changing market scenerio the company proposes to establish in house machining facility and supply fully finished components to the customers.

Shimoga Technologies is fully equipped to manufacture good quality steel forgings. A well planned inward store to receive and stock all the raw materials and consumables, a well equipped laboratory to test the incoming materials, two billet shearing presses, a battery of power hacksaws, a well equipped forge shop with three drop hammers of 500 kg, 750 kg and 1000 kg capacity, three trimming presses of 100 tonnes and 150 tonnes capacity, three coining presses of 200 tonnes and 300 tonnes capacity, a state-of-the-art heat treatment shop with three heat treatment furnaces, a modern tool room equipped with lathes, drilling machines, shaper, electric discharge machine, engraving machine and pneumatic grinders, a well equipped  fettling and shot blasting section consisting of a battery of bench grinders and flexible shaft grinders and three shot blasting machines, a vigilent  inspection and quality assurance wing equipped with precision instruments and gauges to ensure product quality,  a computerised  drawing and design section, an automated office section are all in place to ensure customer service of established  standards.
