About Kilburn Chemicals Ltd

Kilburn Chemicals (KCL) is a leading producer and exporter of Anatase Grade Titanium Dioxide in India. It produces Titanium Dioxide by the Sulphate route. KCL also manufactures and exports the by-product Ferrous Sulphate. KCL's manufacturing plant is based at the Sipcot Industrial Complex in Tuticorin in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu. KCL commenced operations in November 1994.

KCL has a world-wide reputation for quality. In addition to the prestigious ISO 9001-2000 certification, the company's Titanium Dioxide pigment is certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards as conforming to IS-411 specifications. KCL exports a sizeable quantity of its Titanium Dioxide and Ferrous Sulphate to various countries including United States of America. KCL is committed to provide total Customer Satisfaction by offering enhanced services, establishing long-term working relationships with customers in order to understand and meet their individual needs. Every employee is driven by the need to put the customer first.

A strong Research & Development back-up is one of the core strengths of KCL. Pure and applied research combined with technological innovations help to develop quality products to the highest specification. The product's bio-capability for cosmetic applications is constantly monitored by the company. KCL's plant is Environment-Friendly, having a 100% self-integrated pollution abatement scheme. Product range of the company includes:

Titanium Dioxide

Titanium Dioxide is produced from Iimenite, a mineral found in rich abundance in beach sands and hard rock. This material is treated to produce the Titanium Dioxide which is then milled to produce fine particles. A white powder that makes it possible to render true-to-life colours.

Ferrous Sulphate Hepta Hydrate (Copperas)

Kilburn Chemicals Ltd is the major producer of copperas, with over a decade of experience supplying to various user industries. Kilburn Chemicals produces Titanium Dioxide (Anatase) through sulphate process and copperas is produced as a by-product after crystallization and separation from the process liquor.

Copperas is suggested for usage in the Cement Industry in order to reduce the hexavalent chromium content to below 2 ppm. To this effect, an EU directive has already come into force to protect workers during possible skin contact with hydrated cement. Copperas is used as an additive in cement to minimize the risks of the harmful hexavalent chromium contained in cement. Kilburn Chemicals is able to supply copperas to cement manufacturers fulfilling the requirements of EU directive 76/769/EEC, 26th amendment. The directive demands the reduction of hexavalent chromium content to below 2 pm.
