Stewarts & Lloyds of India Ltd was Incorporated and promoted by Stewarts & Lloyds, UK in 1937. The Company diversified into design, manufacture, fabrication, supply and erection of pipe work as early as 1947. The company went public in 1965.

Its engineering capabilities derive strength from its own ISO certified Design & Engineering Wing and a Manufacturing Unit having approval from Regulatory Bodies. S&L’s unrivaled experience in piping system enabled it to grow into a EPC company for multi disciplined construction projects in Hydrocarbon, Metal, Power, Fertiliser and other sectors.
To broaden and strengthen engineering and construction capabilities with the focused aim of expanding further into high potential areas like refineries, oil and gas exploration and production, petrochemical, power and steel sectors in India and abroad. Indian Oiltanking successfully acquired the majority holding in Stewarts & Lloyds of India Ltd from Tata Steel in 1992.
Indian Oil Tanking Limited (IOT Infrastructure and Energy Services Limited) acquired the company from TATA STEEL in 2004 and it is now a subsidiary of IOT Infrastructure and Energy Services Limited. Headquartered in Kolkata, the company has work centers in various places of India
