Competent Automobiles (CACL) was incorporated in 1985 as a private limited company and was converted into a public limited company in 1994.

CACL is a part of Delhi based Competent Group, promoted by Shri Raj Chopra. The profit making company, since its inception, is engaged in automobile business. Presently, the company has two dealerships of Maruti Udyog - one is for Delhi and other for Himachal Pradesh at Mandi. For Delhi dealership the company has four showrooms and three big workshops.

Much before Total Quality Management and ISO accreditations became fashionable buzzwords in management circles; Competent Automobiles was more than living up to its name. This has enabled the company to fully comply with the stringent norms set by MUL while other dealers were only gearing up. Competent has been example and trend setter for Maruti Customers.

Business Segments:

The company operates in two business segments -- Automobile showrooms and Automobile workshops.

a) Automobile showrooms – Helpful executives, working under the over all guidance of Branch Manager, provides answers to customers queries, explain the features of various models and provide advice and assistance. They even accompany customers on test drive of new cars.

The company's main showroom is situated in the heart of New Delhi at Connaught Place. It contributes the highest number of maruti vehicles sales in India.

Besides this it also has showrooms in Lajpat Nagar, Gazipur, Rattan Park and Mandi (H.P.).

b) Automobile workshops – The company opened workshops on persistent demand made by its customers. The workshops are equipped with latest high technology tools and equipment, managed and manned by highly qualified, experienced and motivated managers and workers.

Its workshops are located at Gazipur, Mandi and Mehrauli.

• Competent Construction -- A leading name in the field of construction, Competent Construction undertakes turnkey projects, besides real -estate development. There are many prestigious projects to its credit including important Hotels, Embassies, Hospitals, Housing complexes, Auditoriums etc.
• Competent Hotels -- The Competent group also diversified into hotel business in India. Its first five star hotel was commissioned in, April 1994 in Manali, Himachal Pradesh under the name Holiday Inn Manali which has franchise agreement with the 'Intercontinental Hotels Group, USA’.
• Competent Leasing & Finance -- A company engaged in the syndication of finance for cars.
• Competent Films Enterprises -- Engaged in the exhibition and distribution of films for Delhi-U.P circuits and has given many block buster feature films of prominent producers.
