The BSE Auto Index is a market bellwether for the automobiles and auto ancillary sectors in India. It uses the free float methodology i.e. based on the number of shares in active circulation at any point of time, to choose its constituents until minimum market coverage of 90% of the free float market capitalization in the auto sector is achieved. The index comprises of a minimum of 10 companies from the BSE 500 index.
