Vedanta zooms on reporting 17% rise in Q2 consolidated net profit

Vedanta is currently trading at Rs 210.85, up by 8.40 points or 4.15% from its previous closing of Rs. 202.45 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 205.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 210.85 and Rs. 202.55 respectively. So far 431456 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 212.15 on 1-Nov-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 58.10 on 12-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 212.15 and Rs. 198.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 61532.23 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 62.86%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 23.24% and 9.60% respectively.

Vedanta has reported net loss of Rs 274.65 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 as against net profit of Rs 18.16 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company decreased by 10.12% at Rs 7306.17 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 8128.93 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

On the consolidated basis, the company has reported 17.14% rise in its net profit after taxes, minority interest & share in jointly controlled entities and associates at Rs 1252.13 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2016 as compared to Rs 1068.95 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the company decreased by 4.60% to Rs 18029.76 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 18898.27 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.
