In order to increase its capital base, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, one of the fastest growing banks in India, has raised Rs 168 crore via qualified institutional placement (QIP). The exercise saw participation from marquee domestic and foreign institutional investors despite volatile secondary market. Insurance companies and banks constituted a major chunk of investors. The bank has already received an approval from its board to raise up to Rs 600 crore and so it is likely to raise more capital in the coming months.
