Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea has declared lock-out in one of the tea estates of the company namely, Orang Tea Estate with effect from June 28, 2013. The company has taken this step pursuant to acts of violence on the managerial staff by a group of workmen.
The production from the aforesaid tea estate accounted for around 6% of the total tea production of the company during the FY 2012-13. The company does not expect much adverse impact on its financials due to the aforesaid lock-out.
Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea is the flagship company of the Kolkata based Dhunseri group belonging to Dhanuka family. The company is engaged in cultivation, manufacture and sale of tea with 11 tea gardens (all of them located in and around Assam) and manufacturing of PET resins.
