Axis Bank, country’s largest private sector lender is likely to provide travel cards in multiple currencies and with valued added services. It is also working on other specialized products in the travel cards segment, which includes bundled product that can be used for public transport in Singapore.
The bank also working on a special card for students going abroad, jointly with ISEC (International Student Exchange Card) so that they can avail themselves of discounts at merchant outlets. The bank, which is the biggest issuer of travel cards in India, has roughly four lakh active cards with a usage volume of over $2 billion.
Axis Bank's net profit increased by 23.62% to Rs 1,102.27 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011, from Rs 891.36 crore in the corresponding year-ago quarter, on the back of robust growth in both interest and fee income. Total income rose 44.54% to Rs 7,206.77 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 4,986 crore for the same quarter last year.
