United Breweries gains on launching premium beer brand in Andhra Pradesh

United Breweries is currently trading at Rs. 534.95, up by 3.40 points or 0.64% from its previous closing of Rs. 531.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 542.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 545.00 and Rs. 530.45 respectively. So far 5534 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 644.00 on 13-Mar-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 339.50 on 11-Jan-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 584.60 and Rs. 510.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 14176.08 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 74.82% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 18.21% and 6.97% respectively.

United Breweries has introduced its premium beer brand Kingfisher Ultra in Andhra Pradesh, nearly three years after it launched the brand in India. Delayed negotiations with the State Excise Department on tax and pricing issues were the main reason for postponement of launch of the product in the state.

In Andhra Pradesh about 30 million cases of beer are sold annually, which considered the biggest beer market in India. The product was priced at Rs 120 for a pack size of 650 ml and Rs 60 for 300 ml.

United Breweries is maker of Kingfisher beer and Heineken beer in India. Kingfisher is largest selling beer in India that commands 29% of market share. The company has presence in 52 countries.
