The company has launched Gold Seal Indus Valley basmati rice and will keep the same in the premium segment rather than competing with popular brands such as Kohinoor and Daawat.

Earlier a decade ago, the company tried to ramp up its packaged foods portfolio by launching wheat flour, soups and sauces. It later scaled back its presence in flour and salt and withdrew from biscuits market due to low profit margins.

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) is India's largest fast moving consumer goods company, with leadership in Home & Personal Care Products and Foods & Beverages. HUL's brands, spread across 20 distinct consumer categories, touch the lives of two out of three Indians.
